Shoulder Function

Corrective Exercise Australia’sShoulder Function – from Rehab to Performance’ workshop will equip you as an exercise professional to understand the anatomy, function and correct exercise prescription for the shoulder girdle and joint.

Good shoulder function is as important as lumbo-pelvic (core) function, yet it is typically not well understood and exercise prescription is sub-optimal. The shoulder functions in an intricate balance between stability and mobility, and exercise needs to be able to address these two dynamic and interrelated states well!

At the workshop you will gain:

  • A detailed understanding of the anatomy and biomechanics of the shoulder
  • insight to why dysfunction occurs in so many of our clients (and the consequences!)
  • Practical skills and exercises to address these dysfunctions
  • The capacity to answer the following questions (and others! – bring your own!!):
  1. Are shoulder ‘joint’ injuries such as impingement syndromes just a symptom of dysfunction somewhere else?
  2. Is the rotator cuff (and related internal and external rotation exercises) the “be-all” of shoulder rehabilitation?
  3. How do you rehabilitate the shoulder of an athlete who needs to perform overhead (tennis, basketball, etc)?
  4. What is all the fuss with bench pressing and shoulder function?

Next Shoulder Function workshop: Sunday 21st of October 2012.
