A very worthwhile read for anyone working with young female athletes. ACL injuries are common in this population group, and can devastate a potential athletic career before it even has a chance to be realised. Anything that can be done to reduce the likelihood of an athlete rupturing their ACL should be done, and it is our responsibility as the trusted coach/trainer to implement the best evidence-based strategies available.
I encourage you to read the whole article, but as a teaser, strength training and proximal-segment training (core and hip) get a nice little gold star placed next to them! Enjoy!
